    Q: Are customs' fees added for International orders?
    Are customs' fees added to international orders?

    A: Decorate the Cake does not collect nor pay any customs' fees collected by international countries. This is the responsibility of the customer.

    Q: Getting Started
    Do I need to do anything with my products prior to getting started?

    A: Inspect all mold once received for any manufacturer defects. Report all defects within 4-7 days of receipt for directions on return and replacement. All silicone molds, cutters and bling ribbon should be washed with a soft cloth in a mild detergent and be allowed to dry prior to use. Use a soft cloth to dry cutters so that they do not sit with water on them which can cause rusting over time. Store all molds flat to avoid warping of the mold.

    Q: How do I use your coupon code?
    I got a coupon code and I don't know how to use it/the system won't accept it.

    A: Our coupon codes are specific. Be sure to input them exactly as written, including spaces, capital letters and numbers. Copy and paste the code if you're not sure you're getting it exactly right. Continue on with check-out as needed.     A: Placing an order on Decorate the Cake is easy! Place items in your shopping cart, set quantities and check out with paypal! For a detailed explaination check out our blog post.

    Q: Do you have store that I can visit?
    Do you have store that I can visit?

    A: No, we do not have a store front at this time. Molds are not poured until an order is placed so there would be nothing to have in a store.

    Q: What if my order does not arrive or there is a problem with delivery?
    What if my order doesn't arrive or there is problem with delivery?

    A: DTC ships orders via US Postal Service and all items are either hand delilvered to the post office or picked up during our daily postal service.

    DTC will do everything possible to ensure that your order is processed and delivered to an official mailing location. Each item processed at DTC is logged and confirmation of delivery to the post office is kept.

    Unfortunatly, once the order has been delivered or picked up - DTC no longer has contol of the item and is not responsible for the final delivery.

    We are happy to provide you with email confirmations on the creation of your shipping label and the tracking number. It is the responsibility of the customer to research any "lost" package or to submit any request for tracking.

    DTC will not refund for items lost in the mail.

    Q: What is the process once I place an order with DTC?
    What happens once I place an order with DTC?

    A: There are 2 sections to a DTC order 1) Mold Creation and 2) Shipping.

    Orders are processed on a daily basis, unless noted by a store message (vacation, out of office, etc). All of our molds are custom made to order, DTC does not carry inventory. Each mold will be poured, cured and inspected -- this process takes 5 to 7 days. Once the mold is ready to ship, you will be notified via email of shipping. Please see the FAQ on Shipping for ship times.

    Q: Do you have a newsletter or monthly updates?
    Do you have a newsletter or email updates?

    A: Yes. Customers who place orders with DTC are automatically added to our newsletter mailing list. Each issues features new products, helpful tips, project ideas and coupon codes.

    If you have not ordered from DTC but would like to be on the mailing list, send an email to sales@decoratethecake.com. In the subject line note - "add to newsletter"

    Q: What types of payments are accepted?
    What types of payments are accepted?

    A: All payments will be processed thru Paypal. You do not have to have a Paypal account to order using a credit card. PayPal accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express.

    A: Absolutely! Credit cards are processed thru Paypal, which offers secure payment transactions.

    Q: What is the DTC return policy?
    What is the DTC return policy?

    A: Unfortunately we do not accept returns. However, in the first 30 days if there is a quality defect the item will be replaced.

    If you believe you have an item that is defective please submit a close up photo of the mold and a description to sales@decoratethecake.com for review. Sometimes a photo is not enough to determine defect and we may request a video or the item to be returned for analysis. If a defect is found, DTC will replace the item. In the event that the item no longer exists or has been retired, you will receive store credit for the defective item.

    DTC reserves the right to determine if the item is defective or not.

    Exchanges are done on a case by case basis. If they item is unopened and one we feel will be ordered again in the near future by another customer we might exchange the item at our discretion. If this is done, a 30% restocking fee will be assessed on the returned item.

    Q: Do you offer wholesale or distributor pricing?
    Do you offer wholesale or distributor pricing?

    A: Yes. Wholesale or distributor pricing is available for qualified applicants. To qualify you must be able to provide information that you are a retailer or an instructor that would be purchasing items to resell to students.

    Once qualified, you will receive the wholesale discount code to use at www.decoratethecake.com.

    All wholesale accounts are evaluated yearly to ensure they display the characteristics of a resale account.

    A: Photos may be used in their entirety. Permission to do cropping or changing the photos in any manner is not given.

    A: Once your molds take 3 to 5 business days to pour and cure - larger orders may take longer. US orders take an estimated 3 to 5 business days and International orders may take 10 to 14 business days

    A: Yes. Your mailing label will be generated thru Paypal and you will receive a confirmation email that your items have been shipped. Each order will have a tracking number that you can use. Tracking information is available through your Paypal account or directly from the USPS site.

    Q: How much can you get into a flat rate envelope?

    A: A LOT! There is a weight limit of 4 lbs both domestic and international flat rate envelopes.

    All items are calculated by weight and the shipping costs are driven by that weight. In the event that we can get the items you ordered into the flat rate envelope we will, otherwise we will charge for shipping based on actual weight

    A: Yes!

    Decorate The Cake ships to over 190 Countries with Priority Mail International.

    Flat-rate envelope (up to 4lb) is priced at $19.95 for Canada and Mexico, and $23.95 for all other countries.

    For orders over 4lb, shipping is based upon actual weight of items.

    A: There are 2 choices for international shipping. 1) Flat Rate International Priority Mail Box, which are tracked and 2) International Flat Rate Priority Envelopes which are not tracked. This information is provided directly from the USPS website.

    Q: Are the molds FDA compliant?
    Are the molds, lace presses and veiners safe to use on edible items?

    A: Yes. All the molds/presses/veiners are always used with food items. Any use of these products with a non-food item (clay, wax, etc) negates the food grade charastics of the mold.

    DTC uses a Food Grade Silicone for all molds, presses and veiners. Below is the information from the FDA Compliance that makes this silicone food compliant.

    Indirect Food Additive Regulations

    CFR 21 parts 174-178 are “Indirect Food Additive Regulations”, of which CFR 177.2600 is part of. CFR 177.2600 covers “rubber articles intended for repeated use”. These are the guidelines that the FG catalyst conforms with. The specific use definition from CFR 21 177.2600 is as follows:

    “Rubber articles intended for repeated use may be safely used in producing, manufacturing, packing, processing, preparing, treating, packaging, transporting, or holding food, subject to the provisions of this section”. This section being 21CFR 177.2600.

    Further, these materials are not intended to have any technical effect in the food.

    QM Cat FG has been tested with QM 107 , 113 , 122 , 128 (10% catalyst) per the guidelines of CFR 177.2600 and the material has been found to be compliant.

    Q: Are the molds oven safe?
    Are the molds oven safe?

    A: Yes. And freezer safe too!

    All of our molds, presses or veiners are oven safe to 350 degrees. Some of the larger molds (sea shells, etc) can double as mini cake pans. They are also safe for melting hard candy in the oven.

    Alternate uses include using the molds for ice.

    Q: How flexible and durable are these molds?
    How flexible and durable is the silicone used to make these molds?

    A: All molds, presses and veiners are made with a Professional Grade FDA Compliant Moldmaking Silicone which provides the highest quality, details and flexibility that general purpose silicone products can not provide. All silicone has a library life and will not last forever. Avoid over stretching or bending of the molds. Do not use sharp objects on the molds. A small nick will easily lead to a tear.

    Q: How should I store and care for my silicone molds?
    How should I store and care for my silicone molds?

    A: Prior to initial use of your molds make sure to gently wash the molds with a mild detergent and warm water. Allow the molds to fully air dry prior to use.

    When storing silicone molds it is best to keep them in a storage box, this will help keep them clean and help protect them between uses. Ensure the molds are laying flat, not folded on themselves, as they may conform to this new shape distorting the mold cavity. I also ensure that I have a layer of parchment between molds to help with air flow. Storing the molds away from a constant heat source or direct sunlight will also ensure a prolonged production life of your new molds.
